NAVIGATING GRIEF SPECIALTY AREAS: COPING FOR CHILDREN, HOLIDAYS & PET LOSS

Overview:
The purpose of this training is to develop a basic knowledge of the grief process for children/adolescents, grief challenges during the holidays, and the experience of pet death/loss.
During this training, we will review the developmental stages as it relates to grief and how caregivers can support a grieving child/adolescent. We will review holiday grief triggers and rituals/activities that can help guests prepare for holidays. In addition, we will review aspects unique to pet death/loss and common grief responses
Learning Objectives:
-Identify developmental stages and how it influences the child/adolescent’s perception of death
-Recognize common grief responses in children/adolescents
-Discuss how to support a grieving child/adolescent and educate
-Create therapeutic interventions to help children/adolescents process grief
-Identify common triggers to holiday grief
-Learn & be able to utilize activities and rituals to cope with holiday grief
-Recognize the unique grief challenges in pet death/loss

Overview:
This workshop will serve as an introduction to Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). It will connect how creating a full & meaningful life often includes experiencing unwanted thoughts & uncomfortable feelings. Using ACT concepts to manage those undesirable experiences will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
-This session is designed to help participants recognize the 6 core therapeutic processes in ACT.
-Participants will be able to explain why experiencing discomfort in the short-term can result with guests moving towards a full & meaningful life in the long-term.
-Participants will be able to summarize how ACT views mindfulness.
-Participants will engage in experiential exercises to connect feeling discomfort with 6 core therapeutic processes in ACT.

Overview:
Immersive, experiential workshop structured to provide basic psyed on Anxiety diagnoses, ERP, CBT, ACT as well as guided ERP practice wherein clinicians will take on role of guest by challenging their own fear/anxiety triggers utilizing the tools & strategies covered in session. Clinicians will be tasked with identifying their own guests who could benefit from ERP, then given 3 weeks to integrate ERP & report back at follow-up workshop. Both Bootcamp Leaders have worked extensively with ERP treatment in local, Chicago-based IOP/PHP programs for Anxiety & OCD disorders as well as in the traditional outpatient setting.
Learning Objectives:
This session is designed to help participants…
-Develop a better understanding of key concepts within CBT, ACT, DBT & ERP, as well as how to utilize the first three modalities within ERP treatment.
Participants will be able to…
-Experience first-hand what ERP therapy is like in order to apply the interventions to guests while having personal experiences to relate.
-Develop basic case conceptualizations for anxiety & OCD disorders & differentiate between those various diagnoses. -Develop basic treatment plans centered on ERP, including homework assignments.
-Discuss current/past clinical cases with peers & group leaders.
